All baby animals are extremely cute, there’s no doubt of it. However, occasionally a too cute to handle character shows up and steals the show. It’s also the case of this tiny donkey who not only thinks he’s a pup, but he also acts like one. Everyone, meet Walter.
The cute donkey was only a few days old, when his mom rejected him. All alone in this world, the poor little soul was rescued just in time by a kind couple. Kelly and Brad Blake from Oatman, Arizona, decided to adopt him and took him into their home.
“Walter’s mama rejected him because she was too young,” Brad told The Dodo. “[They] tried for 10 hours to get Walter’s mama to take to him. Nothing was working, so we were called and asked if we would like to adopt him. Of course, we said yes!”
The Blakes, who also share their home with three dogs, showed their affection and love to Walter from the beginning and that helped him a lot. A special bond connects the rescue animal and his adoptive family, but the way Walter interacts with his dad is something else. He can’t hold his excitement and enthusiasm when seeing his dad is back home.
Growing with three dogs left its mark on Walter’s behavior, so it’s easy to understand why he thinks he’s actually a dog. “We have three German shepherds and they all took to baby Walter from day one,” Brad said. “They have helped us raise him and teach him house manners.”
In fact, the adorable donkey even wags his tail when getting enthusiastic. And that happens every time when he’s reunited with his human dad. “Walter acts as though he is a dog,” his dad said. “He wags his tail and gets excited when we come home. He hops and brushes his body against me to love on him.”
