This family in South Australia had the biggest surprise after they got back home and find out a koala was hiding in their Christmas tree. What they initially thought to be an innocent joke, turned out to be a real deal, after an uninvited wild guest made itself comfortable right in their Christmas tree.
“‘I thought ‘Is this a joke?’ I thought one of my kids may have put like a soft toy in there, but no, it was a live one!”
In was Wednesday afternoon when Amanda McCormick and daughter Taylah got back to their home in Coromandel Valley, Adelaide. But little did they know that once they will stepped inside the surprise of their lives is waiting for them. “Our dog went straight to the Christmas tree and was sniffing around,” Taylah told The Guardian. “When we looked up there was a koala tangled up in the lights.”
After they grabbed some pictures and captured the funny moment on their cellphones, Amanda and Taylah called 1300Koalaz, a koalas rescue. But even them thought it is a joke. This evening our hotline operator took a call. At first she thought she was the victim of a prank call,” Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue wrote. “But no, a koala desperate to get in the Christmas spirit had wandered into Amanda McCormick’s house and decided it wanted to be the fairy on the Christmas tree.”

The koala was eventually removed from the McCormicks’ Christmas tree and safely returned to the wild. But it’s already a Christmas they won’t forget for this family.
“Well that’s something you don’t see every day,” Amanda wrote in a Facebook post. “We just came home to a real life koala up our Xmas tree in our lounge room. This is the most exciting Wednesday night I’ve ever had! Merry Xmas everyone, and thanks little Koala buddy for dropping by!”
