As everyone’s knows, water is essential for life. However, no one appreciate it more than a bunch of thirsty animals in a dusty desert. In order to prove it, this guy decided to put a bucket of water in “the middle of nowhere” and to set a camera on the bottom of it, just to see who’d come to drink. The result is quite fascinating.
John Wells lives at the Field Lab, a Southwest Texas alternative energy and sustainable living field lab. He became famous after deciding to move from New York and start an off the grid lifestyle in the Texan desert.
At some point, John wondered what critters he could attract if putting a bucket of water, not far away from the place he lives. Of course he recorded the whole scenes with a camera set up on the bottom of the bucket. He then uploaded the footage on Youtube and it went absolutely viral. Even John got surprised by how many different creatures made their way to the water.
“Everybody loves water in the desert,” John wrote. “I was pleasantly surprised…to see that George[the rabbit] made an appearance. I know him from all the other rabbits because of the tiny notch in his ear. A burro just happened to come by in time to be included. Ben went against the script and decided to just nudge the bucket. You can lead a steer to water but you can’t make him drink. Note: The swimming bees were rescued. ”
