It is a well-known fact that Maine Coon cats can grow to be quite large, but one particular feline has surpassed expectations. Meet Kefir, the world’s biggest cat, who is not even fully grown yet.
Due to his enormous size, people mistake him for a dog. At less than 2 years old, Kefir already weighs approximately 28lbs, which is a lot considering that the average male Maine Coon cat reaches up to 18lbs and continues to grow until they are 3-4 years old. It is difficult to imagine how large Kefir will be when he reaches maturity.
Despite his size, Kefir is a gentle giant and lives with his human mom, Yuliya Minina, in the small city of Stary Oskol, Russia. Yuliya is thrilled that her furry friend has become an internet sensation due to his oversize, and she admits that she never expected this outcome when she first met Kefir two years ago.

“He might have a formidable appearance, but he is a very affectionate and modest child,” the cat’s owner said. “He’s a super-smart cat. It weirdly can feel the general mood in the house. He doesn’t meow, doesn’t yell, and most important he doesn’t harm the furniture. A truly perfect cat.”
The young lady mentioned that Kefir, her enormous kitten, is often mistaken for a dog by people. She shared with Bored Panda that it’s amusing to see others’ reactions when they see her cat due to its size. Yuliya finds living with Kefir to be incredibly adorable, but over the past few months, sharing her bed with him has become slightly inconvenient.
“At night he likes to sleep climbed on me,” she said. “When he was a kitten, it didn’t cause me any inconvenience. But now he has become big and heavy, and, of course, it is difficult to sleep like that.”
