A rescued foal has the most heartwarming bond with a giant stuffed bear!
Breeze how he’s named, was abandoned by his mom, shortly after birth. Fortunately for the newborn Dartmoor Hill pony, a farmer found him and alerted the Mare and Foal Sanctuary in Devon, UK. By the time the rescue team arrived at the scene, the new born foal was in a deeply state of distress. He was confused and dehydration and everyone feared for the worst.
But once they brought him at the sanctuary, things started to look better as the little one apparently found the comfort he needed. And it didn’t came from an adoptive mother, or from staff members, but from a giant teddy bear his carers gave it to him.
“Sadly, little Breeze has not got his mum around to keep him company,” Syra Bowden the sanctuary’s executive director, said. “It’s been wonderful to see him interacting with his new teddies and cuddling up to them when he goes to sleep. They are great company for him and provide comfort during the brief periods when his carers are not present.”
Apparently, the sanctuary gives stuffed toys to orphan animals very often. “We always give our orphaned foals a giant cuddly toy as a companion,” Bowden said. “They’re just like human babies in the way it provides them with comfort.” A method that seems to work quite well!
As about Breeze, after a couple of critical weeks when he received a special milk formula and proper medication, he’s feeling very fine now. And his teddy bear friend is responsible for that, too. “He’s growing bigger and stronger by the day,” Bowden said. “He’s just started to go out into the field to play — he’s not scared of anything and loves being outside.”
