Chowder, a 6-year-old Vietnamese potbellied pig, has a charming group of unlikely animal friends. Living with five rescue dogs—Rika, Slick, Nya, James, and Bashe—and his human, Shelby Madere, in Southern California, Chowder has proven that he’s just as lovable as his furry companions.
While dogs are often celebrated as great pets, Chowder shows that pigs can be just as affectionate and endearing. Vietnamese potbellied pigs are known for their sociability and intelligence, and Chowder loves nothing more than a good cuddle.
Despite their differences, Chowder fits right in with his canine family. He often plays in the yard with the dogs and even sports matching collars tailored to his size.
They are incredibly adorable ❤️ and couldn’t have been raised by a more lovable pack of dogs 🥰.
Pigs are even smarter than dogs! They make wonderful pets, just like dogs, and will eat anything they love!! ❤️ They see other animals and think that’s who they are.
It’s funny, but true—some animals adopt the behaviors of their adopted family. If it’s all they know, they’ll try to imitate them as best as they can.
That is so cool. 😃 It’s an example of brotherly love and kindness, something we can learn from animals ❤️👀.
He honestly looks like he’s smiling!!
