While traveling along a deserted highway in Alberta, Canada, not long ago, Emerice Hallock and her brother came across a very unusual sight. In the brush just off the roadside, they spotted a solitary, bright white figure. Initially, Hallock assumed it was a rock, but their car was moving too fast to be certain. However, Hallock’s brother managed to catch a better glimpse of it and revealed the extraordinary truth.
“He just told me to turn around,” Hallock explained to The Dodo. “He said he saw an albino porcupine. I was like, ‘Yeah, OK.’ [But] he was freaking out, so I turned around.”
To their amazement, it turned out to be an albino porcupine, an exceedingly rare occurrence. According to reports, only one out of every 10,000 porcupines has this trait. Hallock was awe-struck and exited her vehicle to get a better view of the extraordinary animal.
“It was so crazy,” she said. “I’ve never seen a porcupine in my life, so seeing an albino one was mind blowing. I just couldn’t believe my eyes.”
The albino porcupine, with its distinctive all-white fur and quills, appeared to be in good health and quite content as it moved through the brush. It was as if the creature was aware of how exceptional it was and cherished its uniqueness.
Eventually, the rare creature returned to the nearby forest, apparently content that its remarkable and striking presence had been duly acknowledged by those who had spotted it. And indeed, it was an unforgettable experience for Hallock. “It’s certainly something that I will remember,” she said.
