When it comes to down majestic creatures, all those big wild cats are crossing my mind. From the fearsome lion to the powerful tiger; from the fast cheetah to the delicate leopard. However, it isn’t too wise only to be around these giant felines, but sharing a home with them. Well, this woman in Florida seems to disagree.
While most of us use the garden to relax, Janice Haley in Orlando, Florida decided to turn it into a playground for her beloved kittens. And when I say kitties, I mean two huge Bengal tigers. But despite Janda weigh over 400lbs and Saber around 600lbs, the 57-year-old woman says they’re nothing but gentle giants and they love to play and cuddle just as any other kitten does. “As far as they’re concerned, I am mommy,” Janice said. “They rub me in the face, they’ll let me kiss them on the nose.”
Janice always loved big wild cats and in 1995 she quit her job and started to take care of wild animals, including tigers, lions or leopards. In 2002 she met Janda and five years later she got Saber, who was only two weeks old back then. Since then, the woman shares her home with the two unlikely pets.
The woman agrees no wild animal should be kept in captivity. However, in some situation there’s not a choice as they won’t survive in the wild. “It is not the ideal place for a tiger to be, in a cage,” Janice told Bored Panda. “But at this point, in the wild, there isn’t a lot hope out there for them anymore, and if there aren’t some of them left in cages there aren’t going to be any left at all in a couple of years from now.”
The woman is hand-feeding Janda and Saber three time a day. She even got some volunteers to help her out with the majestic animals. “They are provided for and loved here,” the woman said. “In my opinion, I wouldn’t mind being a tiger in my backyard.” Janice loves to spend time with her beloved companions. Sometimes she even takes naps with her “babies.”
